Do you have a legacy? There are some families that just seem to pass down a love for a sport, or an specific skill or even a business interest from generation to generation. I don't have a legacy that I can see in my family, unless sarcasm counts. My wife however, she does. My amazing wife is the fourth or fifth generation worship leader in her family. Her mother is a professional worship leader. Her grandparents were travelling evangelists and worship leaders. Her sister is also a worship leader at her own church. I've been able to see how that legacy is displayed in the generations of our family. All of my children love to music and singing, whether the Lord will call them to serve Him in the area of worship is yet to be seen. This week, we will go back to the beginning of the Bible and look at a young girl who, even though she didn't know it, would be the part of a legacy that spans the rest of the Old Testament. In our verse today, we are told about the parentage of Moses and his siblings, Miriam and Aaron. This power triplet of siblings would be instrumental in not only leading God's people out of the land of Egypt, but also in worshiping the Lord God. Here, we learn that both their mother (Jochebed) and their father (Amram) were from the tribe of Levi. Why is this important? I believe it illustrates the connection of all three children to the line that would become God's servants. If you read the Law, the Levites were set apart to be the Lord's servants and would serve in His Temple. Miriam's brother Aaron would become the first high priest of Israel. Miriam's family is one of Godly service and leadership. This is a powerful thing to remember when we realize she is likely no older than 8 to 12 when this story takes place. Even and child can be a part of a legacy... even the beginning of one!
Prayer:
Holy God, I admit I do not always know what You are doing in my life. Thank You for your grace and guidance. Please help me to understand what You may have called my family to and/or what You have called me to do in Your service. I'm ready to serve Lord. Amen.

Reflection:
Good or bad, what kind of legacy does your family have?
Good or bad, what kind of legacy does your family have?
What can you do to create a new God-centered legacy in your family?
