Matthew 6:25,26,33
Standing on the
foundation of yesterday’s moment, that God is a very loving and personal God,
we must ask ourselves a simple question. “Do I believe that God knows me and
loves me will provide for me?” This is a simple question with a very profound
impact on our faith. Do you really believe God provides? In general, or
specifically for you? I think it is somewhat easier to believe abstractly in
the idea of God’s provision. What I want to get at is the belief that God
provides for you and our family on a much more personal level. In our
passage of Scripture today, Jesus is teaching all over Galilee and a crowd has
begun to follow Him. He teaches for a couple chapters, but I want to key in on
these particular verses for us to see God’s provision at work. As Jesus said,
the ‘birds of the air” don’t work, save, or plan for retirement, yet they are
fed every day. Jesus is teaching us that God’s provision for us will take care
of our needs. We need only to trust Him and ready ourselves for the
opportunity.
Prayer: Holy God, I do
believe that You will provide for me. I do believe that You want to provide for
me. But Lord, I have trouble trusting in that belief. Doubt, worry, and stress
all seem to get in the way. Help me, Father, to overcome them and trust You
more. Amen.
Discussion/Reflection
Questions: How have you been trusting in God’s provision. How can you start
trusting Him more?
