Ephesians 2:10
All week we have
looked at different aspects of God’s plan for our lives. His personal,
powerful, provisional, and prosperous will is at work in each of our lives from
the time He formed us in the womb. BUT.. there is one more thing we must look
at this week. Our reading today is the cherry that sits on the crest of this
week’s readings. Paul is writing to church that he helped plant in Ephesus
(hence the name of the book) and he tells them plainly that not only did God
make us who and what we are, but that He also has planned thing for us to do!
Just take that in for a moment. Do you really believe that God made you? Then
why wouldn't you believe that the God who made you, also might have made you
for a purpose? So many people today are looking for purpose and meaning in
their lives. Running around chasing fad after fad, the ebb and flow of chasing
personal fulfillment gets tiring on the soul. Sadly, if we would just embrace
the fact that God made us, the next logical question is, “what for?”. The
search then is no longer about finding meaning. Our lives are given meaning and
purpose inherently when we were created. We now only need look within ourselves
and pray that God reveal what He wants us to do. The function of our lives will
be born out of the form in which we were created. “God made you special to do
special things.“ (New Int’l BILL version).
Prayer: Sovereign God,
I am taken back every time I stop to think of how amazing You are. I can’t even
begin to imaging how You continue to work Your will in the midst of our lives.
Lord, lead me and I will follow You. Help me see how you shaped me and give me
the courage to step out and serve You. Amen.
Discussion/Reflection
Questions: Do you have any natural gifts, talents, or abilities?
How could you use
those to serve God?
